Our
purpose is to promote intercollegiate fastpitch softball by
developing and providing the availability of professional,
competent and responsible officials who sincerely care about
the status and improvements of the game at this level…
The
Southeastern Collegiate Umpires Association shall conduct
training camps, clinics, and seminars at regular intervals,
and in a variety of settings in order that the membership
continue to broaden their abilities to provide the highest
level of umpiring at this collegiate level. Training and
evaluations shall be the basis for umpire development in order
that umpires meet and/or exceed the expectations that result
in game assignments for members and the development and growth
of potential members.
Specific goals and
objectives include:

To establish and maintain an organization
dedicated to providing competent and excellent contest
officials that will perform as examples of professionalism
and good character at all times

Provide competent, well trained and unbiased
contest officials for athletes, coaches, and schools
participating in intercollegiate fastpitch softball contests
-
Promote through the actions, attitude, and
leadership of its members the ideals of good sportsmanship
and respect for players, coaches, spectators, students,
administrative personnel and other contest attendees

Sponsor, coordinate and promote programs
(such as camps, clinics and mentoring) that will provide
training and continuing education to officials/umpires in
order to improve their judgment, game management, knowledge
of the rules, conditioning and opportunities for advancement

Provide communications through the Board of
Directors or their representatives with the schools and
general public relative to game management, assignment and
control as it applies to officials

Encourage and provide an equal opportunity
for all its members with respect to contest assignments,
advancement, and ratings regardless of sex, national origin,
race, age, disability or religion
